BACKGROUND

 

Mr. Iqbal Abdul Rahman established business in the year 1974 mainly concentrating on the brokerage and indenting of plastic raw materials. With the passage of time various companies were formed in collaboration of highly skilled and experienced persons to look after different tasks.

 

At Plastochem we started our business with CdF Chimie, the State owned French group as their exclusive agents in Pakistan. In 1979 CdF Chimie was acquired by Elf Atochem which was renamed as Atofina after their merger with Fina. Due to organizational changes, it was then acquired by TOTAL in 1990 and they had their own sales agent here. We were also the exclusive agents of QAPCO (Qatar Petrochemical Company) for the sale of their "LOTRENE" brand Low Density Polyethylene. We had been selling lotrene for 22 years till Qapco has decided to open their own sales offices in the surrounding countries, including Pakistan. 

 

For sporadic plastic business we were also in contact with Hyosung, Korea and Itochu, Japan, Lucky Goldstar of Korea and several other well known companies. With the emergence of China as a big importer of Plastic and exporter of chemicals, they lost interest in Pakistan market and concentrated on China due to their geographical proximity and better potentials.
